These are the top 3 upgrades you should have before you ever hit the carpet (or the dirt): RPM Hub Carriers for the front and rear, and RPM Caster Blocks. Installing these parts just takes a few minutes, and might be easy enough for a 4 year old to do it.

So, These 3 packages of RPM parts would be the first upgrade I would make to any brand new Slash 2WD. These 3 parts are some of the most commonly broken- but by installing these RPM replacements, you can solve that. This upgrade costs less than $30, and might just be what keeps you from breaking out of the race. As an added bonus, RPM Offers that Lifetime Warranty, so basically they will replace the parts for free if they do break. (But, from my experience, that rarely happens.)
